North West Philly LR Loop - 20 miles, averaged 7:41

The plan was 30k for 30 years old (a day early because tomorrow the weather won't be nearly as pleasant as it was today), but I took an exended turn in Whitemarsh and got too long before coming back into Philadelphia. So 30k with 2k for good luck.

Probably should run Sugarloaf given that I am in pretty solid aerobic shape and I have a solid 4 months until race day.

Not a bad little 30th bday run. Much more sensible that a 30 miler. You gotta mix it up w/ the units.

Happy 29th for one more day!

I felt pretty strong at the end, but not another 10 miles strong. That would be another 77 minutes! Gone are the days of 3+ hour long runs. I've been close on a few 24s.

30 x 200 didn't sound super fun either.

Actually that's not terrible, but I tend to run them well under 5k pace to start and then cut down to ~600-800m pace (for 6-8)

Happy Birthday Jason. (Youngster!)

Happy Birthday! I live in Philly for a year from '96-'97 at the corner of 20th & Chestnut.

I'm trying to visualize your route, but I wasn't doing much running in those days - except at night when it seemed wiser than walking home.

Thanks, gents.

Drew: you can see if you click the link in my Strava widget. Basically we live at the very opposite end of the city from Center City. We live in a nice neighborhood called Chestnut Hill, the exact last housing area before you enter the suburbs. I don't venture too far toward the city on foot but I walk a little bit to get from the bus to La Salle. Very different from the town of 2000 people I grew up in in Maine. I quite like it here.

Happy Birthday! Nice run, but I think you'd have enjoyed 30 200s too!

From Jason D on Sat, Jan 24, 2015 at 19:58:47 from 68.80.27.222

Thanks, Riley. I seem to recall a set if 30-34ish 200s on your birthday in recent memory. Maybe next year. Of course, 31 is a good time for a 50k to knock of 31ish miles.
