Signed up for Philadelphia RnR last. Never done one of their events. Pretty spendy, but the timing is good and I can go see Megan.

Decided to rent a car in Vegas and do a loop of Scenic Drive in Red Rock Canyon, probably Thursday (on foot that is, not in the rental car).

Should be fun (both vegas and philly). Are you going to do the full there in Philadelphia?

RnR's are indeed pricey. Gotta cover that marketing budget I suppose. They don't do themselves any favors - In the St. Pete RnR last month - I had to pay $15 to park at Trop Field - just to pick up my race packet. I asked the attendant if anyone else complained about charging for the parking to pick up the numbers...his response - "just about every single car."

That being said - they are well organized and the bands and crowds that come to these races make it fun. You'll have a great time in the Philly race I am sure.

I'll be doing the half as my tuneup for the Monumental. I did a half last year at the same time and it was perfect. My long run tempos should set me up for a nice PR assuming the it's not blistering that day. But it's too early to think about that.

Thanks for the info, Brett. I'll be using the train to get there I imagine. I'm guessing they know people will complain but the number who refuse to park on principle with be insignificant.

I will miss the fact that I won't be right behind the starting line though. You know, with the course record being 1:00.xx :)

I've always seen the series as a giant moneymaker (which is fine, just not something I can finance every year). I was going to sign up last year (late) and it was $115 I think. But you should see the increase in the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon prices. In a few years I think it's going to be a sizable race (some sub-2:20s on that course already, one of them Paul in 2010).
