10.25 miles, averaged 7:25 w/ 4.25 @ half marathon effort to a touch faster. Warmed up 2 miles, then started a AT tempo but decided to drop the pace a bit after the first few hundredths, so the first mile was slow, but sensible. Second mile was icy/snowy/twisty. 6:44, 6:51, 6:35, 6:29, 1:38.5 (6:28) average 6:39/40. A bit slow due to the second mile, but I feel okay about the last 2.25 given that my throat pretty much hates me right now.

I think this my first sub-20 degree tightless run. I am trying to learn Joe's toughness, and given that I have more insulation this shouldn't be a problem, but I think I find my tight-wearing threshold (sunny, 20, and calm).

Nice tempo - can't be easy with the snow/ice/sub-20 weather. Did you get angry red legs too?

There isn't much snow but people are responsible for sidewalks, so you get some patches of packed snow that turns to ice.

I can feel the cold a little, but I never checked to see if my legs were red. Fella on a moped told me to put some pants on because it was cold. I don't usually have residents so concerned with my well being.

Yeah, because riding a moped in 20-degree weather is definitely smart...you should listen to that guy - we all should!

I used to never run in tights when I was in cold weather (even in the teens) but I found an old pair and used them on my visit up north over the holidays - and really liked them in the snowy/wet/icy conditions - even if it was in the low 30's. Don't judge. :)

Over here, the men folk don't wear tights - except me. Vanity went out the window a long time ago. Nice run, Jason.

Bret: It's definitely hard going from a warmer weather region to a colder one, Bret. I used to tight-up under 35, then 30, now it's below 20 with wind. Slush and snow does change things. I had a pretty good case of angry red legs yesterday from the wind.

Bam: here you have to wear your modesty shorts over them, unless you live in Boulder :) I'm not against them (I invested in some 2xUs), but I can't put them on for a 6 or 7 miler. It's like getting suited up to go sledding and sliding down the hill twice.
