9th street out and back - 6.5 miles, averaged 8:15

Have what I think is a stone bruise on the bottom of my left foot. Thought for a moment it was Morton's neuroma and dismissed it, but now that I read the symptoms again it may be that. The other day I did have a pebble in my shoe, but I can't remember which foot. No discomfort running or walking down stairs. Two years ago I had to hug the handrail to get down the steps.

Where is it located? Is it by chance near the base of a toe? If you can poke at the pain near the base of a toe, it might be metatarsalgia. I've dealt with that before and might have a fairly quick fix...

Base of the toe, center, balls of the foot. This has a bruised feeling. Morton's, when bad, is a sharp pain, like drilling teeth without novocaine. I really don't have any constant discomfort, I just don't want to be out for 8 weeks like I was with Morton's. If you have a preemptive fix, I'll take it.

with metatarsalgia the pain is more limited to the base of the toe, i think. but if you google it and it's a match, what I do is create a bigger toe arch to take the pressure off the base of that toe, by putting corn cushions or moleskin about a half inch behind the base of the toe - basically on the ball of your foot. Not just while running, but at home, school, etc. It usually goes away in 3-4 days and you can run through it fine. don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but that is my fix...

Thanks for your help. I recall the podiatrist recommending pretty much the same thing for my neuroma. I looked an Morton's and metatarsalgia are pretty similar. This is definitely closer to the base of the toe. My neuroma was a good bit below the ball area.
