PM: Forbidden Drive + Schuylkill River Trail - 24 miles, averaged 7:07. HR 153.

Another strong long run today. Couple easy miles then 18 miles from 7:19-6:37 with most of it at 7:05-6:45. Finished off with some slightly slower miles but still decently steady. Still deciding whether or not I will be able to run Sugarloaf in May. It will be too bad if I can't given how suprisingly strong my endurance is.

Otherwise, why bother with 24-milers!

Nice work Jason, but not "surprising."

It's definitely a long way to run. This is my first 24 miler in 2 years and perhaps my third or forth. I did an out and back and almost went to 13. At that point I think I was at 7:18-7:20 pace and figured I could probably run 3:10 or faster for the marathon but decided against it. The last two long runs have felt really good. I feel like I could run forever. Optimal temperatures have a good bit to do with that.

If I can't fit the marathon in at least I will have some super endurance for my half marathon and 10 miler.

Great run!

Very strong Jason. So was your direction into the city on the Schuylkill River Trail on the way out?

From Bret on Mon, Mar 07, 2016 at 12:30:08 from 216.234.133.229

Never mind - I see what you did on the Strava map. Last fall I was in Philly for a day or two for business and did basically that same out and back from the city - really nice scenery - great trails.

It's a pretty extensive trail system. One of if not the largest in the country.

For me it's ~3 miles to Forbidden Drive on the opposite end that you would have approached it. It's 2.5 miles to the midpoint of Forbidden Drive if I take a different route. So basically this route takes me 8 miles to the end of Forbidden Drive, pick up the Wiss. Bike Path (rolling tar with some overhanging rock), which you saw if you got to Forbidden Drive, then onto Kelly Drive and the River Trail.

I was about 1.75 miles from Boathouse Row. Opposite the river is the East Park Reservoir and beyond that a neighborhood called "Strawberry Mansion" one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in the city.

I have done this route the last two weeks. Once I get to the flat river trail I feel like I can run forever. It's a great early spring and late fall route.

Yep that was it. I went up the Wiss Bike Path and up Forbidden Drive for a mile or two before turning around. Awesome running areas. Bet you will miss them when you move.
