Last rest day I think.

Spent some time putting off my writing last night and did some walking around on Google maps in Chestnut Hill, PA. Mapped out some routes, one of which is a 10 mile out and back to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Going toward the Art Museum mirrors the RnR course on Kelly Dr (it's on the river trail though). A solid flat section for long run + tempos. Most of my longer intervals and tempos will be on smooth, wide swept paths in the woods. Hoping to get invloved in some of the local running. It is time to take the running up a notch. Looking forward to a change of scenary and being with Megan.

Have you moved to Philly? Or planning to?

It looks like where Megan and I will be. She is there/has been there. We weren't 100% sure for a while.

I am moving as soon as I can get clear of here, which will be end of June/early July. Likely early July as the wedding is in late June and we will be gone the week after.

Then you gotta run Philly this fall! :-)

That is the plan. I think. I was going to run the Maine Marathon on October 2, but I guess it is rolling hills and I prefer a flatter course I think. Riley's comment got me thinking about what kind of runner I am, and I think I am a rhythm runner.

Should have plenty of hills to run in Philly. Most of the streets in our Neighborhood are inclines, with some decent hills to be found. I've been scouting out tempo loops and tracks as well.

Running Philly would give me a chance to do some a 10k block (Beach to Beacon), a half marathon block (Philly RnR), then 8 weeks of marathon specific stuff (Philly Marathon).

I realized today that I didn't really do any faster stuff other than my 5k race, 10k race, and strides this buildup and I shouldn't be surprised that my half marathon time wasn't as fast as I had hoped. Some actual speed work after a 3 week recovery period and some base weeks is what I am thinking.

It's a great plan. Things are really spread out the right way. The blocks would build on each other perfectly and you wouldn't have to cram. When you mentioned Philly last week, I was hoping you'd go that route. It's not an EASY course, but not super hard either. Train for the harder parts of the course (and expect them) and you'll be fine.
