Vinton Woods - 9 miles, no watch. Did some strides.

Reread Jake's State Street Mile report from some time ago to see what I should do for a warmup/race plan. I should probably see what the young bucks are doing considering my pace is closer to what they are running, but they are on the track. I recall seeing a mile road race from Jeff after Boston 2012. Need to dig that one out too. Here it is.

Be a little more warmed up that you typically would be for a 5K. Make sure the heart rate is up and you've done enough strides. You want to feel snappy at the start... there won't be a whole lot of time to get into the zone once the gun cracks. Good luck!!

Thanks. It's in the evening, so I think a light jog in the morning for ~25 minutes so I can stretch out, then a long enough warmup before the race with with a bunch of strides should do it. The weather looks okay and I would probably do ~2.5-3 miles for a warmer 5k but I will warmup until the legs start getting antsy.

There's $1000 on the line for the elite race, so I think they got a few more fast guys. Plenty of time to cool down and eat a PBJ after so I can watch the mayhem!

Sounds like a fun event to be a part of. Looking forward to the report!

I've been waiting to run a 1 mile road race for a while, Matt. $18 for a certified mile seems pretty good. We get a tech singlet, which is cool assuming it isn't complete crap. Free 6oz of Michelob Ultra. 6oz of ultra light beer? That after party is going to be INSANE :-)
