AM: Tune Up Workout - 9 miles total

3 mile warm up w/ half mile at MP (~6:35 pace) plus a few strides

3 x 1600 mile with 400 recovery jog 6:01, 6:02, 5:59

2 minutes rest

4 x 200 w/ 200 recovery, averaged 35.6

1.5 cool down

Felt pretty stale.

PM: Off and tomorrow off. Need to make sure I am ready to race and I'm 26 days on. I want to run a strong race, not be disappointed because I tried to keep pushing too hard too close to a race (even if it is only a 10k).

10K requires so much mental focus - you have to be ready to hit that red line early. So rest up and go kill it this weekend.

I cut back more than I planned and I am guessing I will be happy I did. 10ks are indeed hard. I haven't RACED many. They tend to be the faster end of HMP or right in the middle. Today I was doing the Krong-inspired half mile @ MP to end the warm up and thinking "isn't this nice?!"

I made the mistake of letting too many guys gap me last weekend and I lost my pace. I tend to lax in the middle and push at the end. I am guilty of it on repeats too and my training partner called me on it and told me to stay close.

Megan will be with me and I tend to run well when I know she's there. Except Boston.

I like the workout Jason. Which reminds me.. I've liked finishing up track workouts with a few 200's. They seem so much more doable after the rest of the torture. Good luck this weekend. I didn't know Aug 2nd was already here.
