So at this point you pretty much have to go for 4K miles, right?

I told myself it was silly to chase numbers, but wouldn't it look nice? I think I need 11-12 miles a day. I might get ambitious and knock them out next week in Maine.

Meh...We work for years to turn a 3:01 into a 2:59, or (insert arbitrary time goal here), so this is no less silly!

A lot of competitive running is chasing arbitrary numbers :-)

4K is a lot of miles. Consistent year... but mainly impressive because of how you finished it!

And by that I mean the PRs, not necessarily whether you average 12 miles/day for the next week or so :-)

From Jason D on Sun, Dec 20, 2015 at 21:13:33 from 68.80.27.222

Good point. 4000 IS a lot of miles. I am not sure I can keep up these increases and I know I really don't have to. I can do a lot averaging about 70 a week with peaks into the 90s. But now that I do the math 70 a week is 3640!

As for the quest for 4k, part of the problem is I haven't been doubling (typically this time of year I don't). 12 miles a day of doubles is easy. Singles is a bit tougher. I need to stop staying up so late and getting out of bed late. Typical this time of year with grading and no direction training wise. The weather has been great though given the lack of snow.
