AM: 8.25 miles. HR 153.

+ Core and stretching.

My parents are coming, which is great but it always makes me anxious (mostly just annoying parents stuff). Mom and Dad aren't city people and even the relatively suburban neighborhood of Chestnut Hill will likely be quite different to them.

PM: 4.5 miles w/ sharpening workout on the track

2 x 400, then 2 x 200 all with equal recovery

67.7, 72.6, 33.3, 33.1

The first one didn't feel that fast, but it is far too fast for me to run that as mile pace. The second one was more relaxed and closer. Did the 200s "sensibly hard," meaning I ran them hard but I didn't stomp on the. Right around 90 degrees and quite breezy.

I'm chuckling at the parents stuff because it sounds familiar. My parents lived in a nice suburb of LA their whole lives. They visited me when I lived in Center City and it was an anxious experience for all involved.

Good luck tomorrow. Resist the urge to do much more than a short (VERY SHORT) shake out in the morning. Save the legs, especially since it will be hot out.

My parents live in a small Maine town of ~2000, Drew. Anything around 60,000 plus is a big city.

Jake:

Last year I did 3 miles about 8:45 the morning on the road mile. I was going to do 4 tomorrow but maybe I'll stick with 2-3, or go by feel. 3 miles lately takes me 27+ minutes so that's probably good. There's some dry air right now and it might make a difference. The road mile last year was 77 and very dry. Not bad actually. Time will tell.
