Day off #3. Today I felt an urge to go running, but I'm being sensible. Much work to be done academically. But in between all the other stuff I am getting plans together for the rest of the summer and fall, filling in some shorter races and some potential trail races (gasp!).

get your academics done but don't run!! next week, next week...

and if you start being a granola-eating trail runner, we will not speak. just kidding, I wish I was coordinated enough to run trails without killing myself...

Passed the stair test, I see. The many miles you've logged are showing in your recovery. I'm following your lead on the sensibility.. No run tonight!

No trail running over here. That would be a mess.

Joe: At least until Monday. Might be longer. I have 10 weeks starting next week to get ready for my 10k. It's not like I am going out the win the thing . Winning times are always under 30 minutes and even under 28 minutes last year (27:27 course record!). Crazy. But with $10,000 for first, it attracts some talent.

I think guys like Jon would laugh at me calling this a trail race. I'll probably try to do it at marathon pace depending on my fitness and when I can get a map of which section of the trail the race is. I fell pretty hard on a flat section this winter, but then again I fell at least twice this buildup. On concrete. It's what I do. I plan to do runs of 10-13 miles on the trail this summer so I am shaded and near water.

Matt: I want nothing more than to go for an easy 4-5 miles, but you gain nothing. I've learned a few things from Joe and I have watched him bounce back after 10 days off this fall and 7 days after Boston. It's the smart thing to do. Running doubles and high mileage definitely helps your body adapt to stress. I'm rarely really sore after races, and never after workouts (unless I was tired and my form was bad, like the end of my last big workout 3 weeks ago).
