Lunch: 5 miles. HR 147. Did some strides w/ one sprint around 4-minute pace to a little bit under. My top end speed has definitely improved. I lost 2.8 lbs of water weight on this 5 mile run, and it wasn't even humid!

Walked Remy for 35 minutes. His owners come home today. I'm going to miss my rent-a-dog.

PM: 7.25 miles. HR 145. Nice and dry.

Amazing isn't it how quickly we can become dehydrated in the heat. I'm looking into getting a camelback or the like along with a new heart rate monitor.

Dog sitting? Sounds kind of fun actually. What kind of breed was he?

It was 85 or so with a decent dew point and relatively low humidity. When the numbers are higher I think I lose 3 lbs just through my feet! #squishyshoes

When I have been running on the treadmill even for easy runs I've been bringing a bottle just so I don't get behind on my fluids.

His owners were in Italy for 18 days, so I helped out their friend who has a dog herself and another dog she was taking care of.

He is a black lab mix with pitbull I think. You can tell a little bit in the face and by the way his back end sits up a little higher than the front. He's a rescue. He doesn't do well with dogs he doesn't know but I think I actually made some progress with him by choking up on the leash and putting my hand next to his face and redirecting his attention by speaking to him. If you give him the full length of the lease he pulls, jumps, bares his teeth, and barks/growls. I can't tell if he is being protective of himself or me.

Interesting combo, a black lab and pit bull. Total opposites in aggression and behavior I would think.. As far as his defensive posture, he is probably defending both you and him perhaps? Not really much of a dog expert however.. I've only had one dog and that was a beagle when I was a young kid:)

We had one when I was younger too. My parents have had 4 German Short-Haired Pointers. They have a 3 year old one now, and she is very sweet. Loves to run and swim.

Megan and I both want a dog but we are in an apartment and neither one feels right about having one. My parents' live way out in the sticks, and have a 4 acre lawn with lots of woods for their dog to run around. I'd at least like to have a small yard with a fence.

They are great animals, but it sucks when they go.
