Newtone - 5.6 miles.

The cold has hit me. Combine that with sub-1500 calories yesterday and you aren't worth a hoot. Felt pretty awful yesterday after walking home in the cold without my hat so my appetite was 0.

This one is for Rob and others who like insane core workouts. That is an amazing mid-section:

Hey Jason.... I'm thinking about doing the Sugarloaf Marathon in May. I didn't realize that you ran it until I saw your photo while I was googling pictures to try and see the course.

I know it's a low key event, but how did you like the course? Was the big hill a killer at mile 8?

Thanks & congrats on a huge marathon breakthrough when you ran it yourself!

Hey there. Yes, I did run it last year and might this year depending on how fit I can get for Boston.

The course is aided but you have to climb ~500 feet over 10 miles before you get the 1000 feet of drop over the last 16 miles. Honestly, I don't run too many hills, so at mile 10 I said "if these hills continue I am going to have to drop).

My advice is to run about 15-20 seconds slower than goal pace for the first 3-4 miles, take the hills slow. YOU WILL make it up. I went from running 6:50s in the first 2-3 miles, some low 7:00s on the hills, then I settled into goal pace bringing the pace down to 6:40ish until the end of the hills. Then you just need to shorten your stride and hang on! I ran as fast as 6:18-20 on the flats and downhills and mostly 6:30-6:40.

I consider my performance a well run race for my first time on the course. We can talk more about it as we get closer. If you want you can see my Garmin data check the link below.

Pretty intense.

Why just the 1500 calories? I can send you a care package with some of my wife's banana bread and maybe a few cliff bars.

I walked home after the gym yesterday without a hat and I felt a cold by the end of it. I was pretty out of it. Just couldn't seem to get a taste for anything, but banana bread sounds excellent! If I get Cliff Bars I eat them all. I am pretty sure I've eaten two during the night when I sleep eat at least once.

Looks like a heck of a workout. Might have to add that to the list.
