Still a bit sick, so a day off.

Scott W. to Newton? I confess I spent some time looking at his gear recently and saw some Distance and MV3 and kind of had an idea. I think the flats are tough to beat. Newton spilled the beans on FB.

Yup, Jake and I both took it personal.

Yeah he told me but I didn't want to say anything until he made it official. We aren't totally broken up as friends... yet.

I'm sorry to hear that. I figured you knew and it was public enough to post (it's on his blog too).

Seems a strange move, but I don't know the context. I know they used to do applications but I can't imagine Cabada, McCandless, and Wietecha (1:02-1:03 half PRs) applying for sponsors. Sounds like they are a bit more aggressive these day.

I hope things iron out for the three of you.

In the meantime, I will keep my love split between Saucony and Newton as balanced as possible . . . and maybe a pair of Mizuno Mushas I just picked up so I don't beat the treadmill up until I get lean and mean and don't strike so hard :-)

There are different levels of "sponsored" runners. Scott has a "real" sponsorship, not just a coupon :-) And it's well-deserved - he ran 1:03!

I'm glad you are splitting your loyalties between Newton and Saucony and we can all still be friends.

I figured it was more than just a few pair of shoes.

I am still trying to get my local running store to get one of their singlets to BUY so that people don't ask me if I am from Boulder (it's on the back) or if I run for Newton. I'm only about 10 minutes shy on my half marathon time just for entry level application. Only.

Get well soon. Being sick is no good.
