Lunch: North side - 4.25 miles, averaged 7:35. Didn't have much time. Recently resurrected my first pair of Newton racers with some shoe goo. Wonderfully toxic product, but it works like a charm.

PM: South side - 7 miles, averaged 7:10. Stopped to feed a critter for my friend. Ran too fast because I was pretty caffeinated and fuming because a jerk interrupted my talk at a roundtable discussion (a professor I might add). Angry running isn't good, but I was shirtless and sweaty and saw LOTS (relatively speaking) of people out running. Felt like a million bucks after. Now if I just had a BAM BAR for dessert . . .

Rather than having the Bam Bar as a desert, I suggest having it for lunch - I have it pretty much everyday. Mind you, you're young enough to get away with eating whatever you want, so maybe it is a good idea to have it as a desert, rather than a ruck of sweet-no- good-for-anything-stuff. The secret is to have it everyday.

I wish I could eat anything I wanted. Went from 163-164 to racing this weekend at 169! I blame my sister's easter basket she sent me. I need the recipe for the BAM Bars again. As for dessert, I usually have a piece of fruit, like orange when I take my vitamins (iron, etc.). I imagine I will have to make some adjustments to get into the 150-range, but I try to eat sensibly and keep an eye on the weight. Haven't lost a ton of weight from the last fall, but I definitely have more lean mass.

Granola as the base (I use almond and raisin) about 3/4 cup.

1.5 table spoon shelled hemp.

2 table spoons whole chia seeds.

1.5 table spoons Maca (the power stuff).

1.5 table spoons raw organic cocoa powder.

1 table spoon of flaxseed, almonds, brazil nuts, walnuts & Q10 - the brand I use is Linwoods.

A good few dollops of probiotic organic low fat vanilla yogurt.

A good sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

A few squirts of dark agave syrup.

One chopped banana.

Handful of raisins and goji berries.

Mix into a bar and enjoy.

You'd be better off using chopped pear rather banana - the pear is better in terms of being a complex carb and you get boron from pears; boron is very important and very hard to get in your diet.

Wholemeal bagel for breakfast.

Grilled chicken, salmon or lean beef with as many raw veg as possible and wholegrain rice/sweet spuds and you can be just like me. I eat fields of baby leaf spinach and watercress.

Supplements 120mg of CoEn Q10; multi vit and 1000g of vit C - everyday. In high mileage blocks, '5'mg of liquid iron - too many male runners take too much iron and because of this, they will die:)

Thanks! Any cooking necessary for bars?

No cooking.
